I have a weird request.

I’m doing my best to learn how to play nice with Amazon’s discovery algorithm, and from what I’ve learned, it seems to favor books that are purchased after being found in the results of a search for something general.

The algorithm is not so impressed by books that are found from a search for the exact book title or through a direct link to the book page, which is what I’ve been doing. My bad.

So! Weird request, but if you were planning on getting the book anyway, and were planning on getting it from Amazon, would you mind helping me out by searching for the term “supernatural thriller” and finding the book that way? 😬 I know. I’m asking a lot. You are the best for still reading this little missive.

But honestly, if you search for the book using the term “supernatural thriller”, you’re not going to find it (yet!), even though it’s got “supernatural thriller” in the subtitle. It’s not listed in the search results, even if you page all the way through to the end. No one’s finding it. It’s pretty disheartening, if I’m being honest.

But! If you search for “supernatural thriller” and then change “Sort by: Featured” to “Sort by: Newest Arrivals,” it’s there! The book is suddenly there! You should see it on the first page, just a few rows down.

So! For anyone who is not only thinking about getting the book (❤️) but willing to help me out with this (❤️❤️❤️), and still reading (❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️), I tried to make the process as frictionless as possible.

How to get The Metanaut from Amazon AND help Megan grease the algorithm

If you’re still reading, you really are the best. Here we go…

1. Search for “Supernatural Thriller” on Amazon. You can do this yourself (which, honestly, is probably the algorithm’s preference), or you can use the link I created that takes you directly to Amazon’s “Supernatural Thriller” search term results. Here’s that link:

WARNING! It is a deleted prologue. It’s one of the first things I wrote for this story, and I knew I wasn’t going to keep it when I wrote it. So not only is it spoilery but it’s also not all that consistent with the finished story. So I recommend you read it after reading The Metanaut. It’ll make more sense then and it’ll mean more, too. But, as usual, you do you.
