The Look Book

If you’re new here (hello!) or otherwise haven’t seen it yet, the Look Book is a flipbook-style preview of Girl, Incorrupted, with pics and teasers and whatnot. You can view it here:

The Page-a-day / Kindle Unlimited

Right, so Girl, Incorrupted will be part of the Kindle Unlimited program for at least the first 90 days of publication. (I don’t recall signing up, but hey, I’m rolling with it.)

This means that I have to take down the page-a-day posts before release day.2

I’ll put them back up if/when GI exits the program. Gotta see how it goes first. But if you have Kindle Unlimited, this is good news! I hope you check out the book!

…which, of course, you can still do for the next few days via the page-a-day. There are 90+ pages up. Almost a quarter of the book. I’ll take the posts down sometime late evening on Monday, the 11th, so you’ve got until then to read! Here’s the link to page 1.

Libraries

Further to the last newsletter’s bit about libraries…

Did you know that there are something like 10,000 public libraries in the US?3 There are. I just spent the last few weeks reviewing Every. Single. One of them4 before asking a good many of them to add Girl, Incorrupted to their collection.

And I had some success!

A couple libraries wrote back immediately! Like, less than 24 hours later! Saying that they’d ordered the book! (!!) And sometimes they included a link! To the book! Now in their catalog! (!!!) And I’d check the link only to find out that they’d bought not just one copy but multiple copies!

Let me tell you, those emails gave me the best feeling in the world.

All this to say that if you want to read the book but don’t want your own copy (yet), then ask your library! Libraries are the best!

What I’ve Been Reading

I’ve been in the reading doldrums lately, where nothing I read is holding my interest.

I tried this book from the ninties that someone recommended, but I ended up not finishing it even though I’d already read something like 95% of it. Then I started this pink-covered book that came out recently, but I wasn’t into that either and then it was due back at the library and I returned it without feeling bummed.

So then I started reading some backlist Lee Child I found in the little lending library down the street. Usually I zip through them, but I poked along. I eventually finished it and picked up another (someone in my neighborhood likes Lee Child), and I’m reading that a bit faster.

But today I picked up a book from the Lucky Day shelf at the library that looks interesting, so hopefully next month I’ll have some better recommendations.

What Else I’ve Been Up to

Further to the Great Book Purge of 2023 mentioned in the last newsletter, I ultimately said farewell to eight boxes of books. It was a sad few days. I’m still wanting a bookshelf like the Kartell Bookworm, but there’s far less urgency now that my books are gone. But I do have a tidy space again! Love me a tidy space.

Other than that I’ve been posting pics and teasers and whatnot in the usual social places. There’s a nice one of Winnie with the book on IG.

Winnie Pug Update

Winnie turned one in August! We took her to the dog park to see all of her friends. She’s quite popular there. She likes to show off her zoomies. Usually she’s faster than everyone else, but that day there was a greyhound…

No pic cause I’m not great about carrying my phone with me, so hopefully this will do:

She won’t wear the hat, but she seems to like it.

(That other thing is a … rib bone? 🫤 I don’t know. The SO got it for her.)
